What are You Guys, a Couple of Rocket Scientists?In May of 2001, Dave Miller and Michael Della Villa incorporated Rockit Science Solutions while working at the time for ALLTEL Information Services. Both Dave and Michael have many years of experience working for, and with, Fortune 100 companies; Dave on the network infrastructure side and Michael on application development and operations. At ALLTEL, Michael managed application development and delivery for the Enterprise Lending line of business. This encompassed all of the client/server and web-based software development, as well as customer delivery. Dave managed the complete network infrastructure and support for the applications. The customers that relied on their talents were the likes of Bank of America, Wells Fargo, HSBC, and many others. Both Dave and Michael have also worked for GE during their career; Dave as an
employee of GE Corporate and Michael in GE Power Systems (presently GE Energy).
While at GE, Michael graduated from their Information Systems Management Program
(ISMP) and both Dave and Michael are Six Sigma trained. A Vision is BornOne night while on a business trip in Dallas, Dave and Michael were eating dinner with their boss from ALLTEL. Both Dave and Michael were challenging their leadership (i.e. boss) to think differently about solving a problem for one of their clients — a network security and management problem. To Dave and Michael, the answer was simple, but management refused to listen to their ideas. “How do you rocket scientists plan to deliver the solution?” their boss challenged them, mumbling something about complexity and cost that would kill the deal. But Dave and Michael had a plan to deliver network monitoring and security as a managed service that required only low upfront costs and simple monthly subscription fee. That night Rockit Science Solutions was born. Dave and Michael shared the vision of supplying Fortune 100 technology and experience to small and mid-sized businesses and local governments — the organizations that can’t afford the same technological support and knowledge that large companies can. Rockit Science Solutions enables those smaller organizations to enjoy the same network management and security with the likes of those Fortune 100 companies, without needing the resources, IT expertise or large up front expenditures.
